Moral Code shoes are sized according to the US Brannock device — the little contraption you’ll find on the floors of most shoe stores. This means that all Moral Code shoes fit true to size. So, if you are a size 10, then buy a size 10 shoe. As far as widths go, Moral Code shoes are only available in a medium width.

Centuries old and labor intensive, Goodyear Welting is still considered the finest method of shoe construction. So, if you’re a connoisseur of the finer things in life, Goodyear Welted shoes are perhaps for you. Done by hand or machine, Goodyear Welting involves sewing a welt (strip of leather) around the upper and insole of a shoe that’s then attached to the outsole. Goodyear Welted shoes are more durable and can be resoled repeatedly to extend the life of the shoe.
Cementing is a common method for attaching the sole of a shoe. After the upper is shaped, it’s attached to the sole using a strong adhesive — all without a welt. Cementing is often done on casual rubber-soled shoes. Once the upper separates from the sole or the sole becomes damaged, the shoe can’t be repaired, which isn’t entirely a bad thing because you get to buy new shoes.
A pair of shoes is only as good as the leather from which it’s crafted. At Moral Code, we only use premium calfskin and suede for all uppers to ensure stylish durability.
In a word, yes. So, if you have a pair of Goodyear Welted shoes with a sole that’s seen better days, simply take it to a trained shoe repair specialist — or a cobbler if you will. Thanks to the two-level stitching, resoling a Goodyear Welted shoe is easily done by machine or hand. It simply involves removing the old sole and replacing it with a new sole. Voilà! It’s like a new pair of shoes that you’ve been wearing for years.
If you want your leather shoes to look sharp and last long, proper care is essential. And it’s pretty easy. Periodically, you should wipe them down with a damp, soft cloth to remove any dirt, debris, and scuffs. After they air dry, apply shoe cream or polish with either a polishing cloth or a horsehair dauber. Next, remove the excess cream or polish with a horsehair brush and buff to shine. Your shoes will thank you for it.
Keeping your suede shoes looking like new all comes down to proper care. This means using a shoe eraser for nubuck to remove dirt and smudges and lightly brushing with a suede brush for detailing. And never, ever use a wire brush or polish on your suede shoes. This can cause irreparable damage. For maximum protection against water and stains, use a spray-on waterproofer. There you have it — suede care made easy.
As you know, you don’t need a shoe horn to slip on your shoes. But, if you want to feel like a man of sophistication and don’t want to damage the heel counter of your shoes, a shoe horn comes in handy. So, yes, use one.
If you want to keep your Moral Code shoes happy, we recommend using a cedar shoe tree when you’re not wearing them. By mimicking the contour of a foot, a cedar shoe tree helps restore and preserve the shape of a shoe when it’s not being worn. It also smooths unsightly leather wrinkling and allows for better breathability. Aren’t cedar shoe trees great?
